What is an Overlay?
Overlays are text laid over a video clip to provide information on the clip such as the index number, clip name, associated tag, and comments. Text overlays can be produced from tag information, label group fields, global label groups and public comments.
How to Customize the Overlay

Select Vision from the Vision menu bar and then select Preferences.

Click the Organize tab from the Preferences menu.

To change the location of the overlay on the clip select a new location from the drop down menu beside Location.
- To change the font and background of the overlay, click the solid color box to select a default color or click the sphere to select a custom color.

To enable what is shown for the overlay, ensure a check mark is beside the element you want to show on the overlay.

Create Overlays from Private Comments

From the Tag Tab, add comments to the 'Comment' box of any new or existing Tag. Please see our guide How to Tag Video for more information.

Navigate to the Organize Tab and Update your Tags. Please see our guide How to update clips that are Available in the Organize Tab for more information.

Private comments will now appear in the private comments column of the playlist for each clip that had a comment associated with it from the Tag Tab.

Right click on any private comment you want to make public.

Click 'Copy Private Comments to Public'. Public comments will show as overlays once enabled.
Create or Edit Overlays from Public Comments

Navigate to the Organize Tab and ensure the Playlist that contains the clips you want to add an overlay to is open.

From the Playlist, navigate to the clip row in the playlist and click in the 'Public Comments' section associated with the clip and pause. When prompted type in what you want to put in the overlay or edit an existing public comment accordingly.
How to Enable Overlays

Navigate to the Organize Tab

Click 'Show Overlay' button in the bottom right corner of the Video Window and above the 'Trim' button.
